Feeling Powerless

I discovered this afternoon that my car has been keyed again. This time on the driver’s side, front fender. This is the third time.

I filed a police report. Again.

I stopped by the leasing office around 4:30 but they were closed already, despite a sign saying they are open ’till 5 on Saturdays.

I called the courtesy patrol company that is supposed to monitor the parking lot to let them know this is happening. They are only paid to come through the lot 4 times a night, so that’s all they can do. I asked if they would at least spend an extra minute or two shining their light around and maybe vary the times they come through. I think it was a waste of my energy but at least I made the effort.

I’m researching car alarms now. Any suggestions? It’s all Greek to me.

The leasing office told me before I can’t install a security camera because of privacy laws. I want to ask them if installing a fake camera would be ok.

I’d really like to take a week off work and sit in the shadows every night with a gun.

What else can I do??

The policewoman I spoke with to file my report asked if a detective had called me about my previous report yet – no, he has not. I did not know they would be. I at least have that hope to cling to… She gave me a number to call on Monday to follow up with them.

hey sam, yeah we've been wanting to move and I think it's definitely time.

the problem is I'm not ready to buy a house now, and I've been dragging my feet b/c it didn't make sense to pay for a move (time, money for moving, energy, etc.) to another apartment, when (hopefully fairly soon) we'll be able to buy a house - and have to move all over again.

but things are different now... it's costing more staying put.

hissyfitz, I just followed up on your blog. :) here's what I said:

I was googling... I think for pictures. lol My car needs to be washed before I could take a picture, so I was looking for some other graphic to put on the blog.

Yeah I dunno about the alarm either.

Apparently I've ticked somebody off, hell if I know who or how. Sucks though - I just got this car in Jan.

When filing my last police report I learned a detective is supposed to be investigating, so at least I've got that... Although I'm pretty sure we're going to move. We've been wanting to - this is just the final straw.

[hmm, this didn't seem to take the first time, sorry if it's a duplicate]

You left a comment in my other blog regarding our cars being keyed. I replied to it, but thought I'd stop by here in case you don't re-visit it.

As I mentioned there, I didn't think a car alarm would be a solution (for the same reason as the above comment), but that perhaps you could install a camera INSIDE your car that might catch the perps in action.

How did you find my post in my other blog? I wrote that in Feb. 2006..and luckily never was keyed again.

If you can manage to find an alarm sensitive enough to go off at a mere keying, it'd be one of those kind that went off every time the wind blows and any apt. complex would not tolerate it. Regardless, it's apparent that you're being targeted for "some" reason. Get out of that place, stat.
