Catching Up

Man have I fallen behind! This past weekend and Black Tuesday just wore me out. Let me see if I can catch up….

Saturday was graduation, of course. The ceremony itself was cool–no big names as far as speakers, but it at least they weren’t too long winded. Mom & Dad had flown in Friday, and were able to stay through Sunday; Heather & Dan drove down for the weekend; and a bunch of good friends made it to my graduation party immediately after the ceremony. One of my favorite professors even made it to my party–I was just beside myself!! :)

Unfortunately we didn’t make it down to Gator’s that night to see Ya!Ya perform, and to hang out with more friends down there. I’ve apologized and apologized and apologized some more, and still feel like an ass about it. After the party we went out for dinner at Thai Orchid, and all through dinner I was fighting to stay awake. (not that the company was bad, mind you, just that I hadn’t gotten much sleep the days leading up to the big event) After dinner mom wasn’t feeling well so we stoppedy by the apartment to drop her off–and while we were there decided to change and rest for a minute. Well that was the end–we all ended up dozing off, and we just stayed in.

Monday was hard, after getting to spend time with Mom & Dad, Heather & Dan, and all my friends I haven’t seen in so long. I felt like somebody had ripped a hole in my chest where my heart was supposed to be.

Tuesday was “Black Tuesday”. That’s what we call it, anyway; it’s also called “Patch Tuesday“. The second Tuesday of every month is the day Micro$oft releases all their security patches, and with my new job we stay at work until we’ve written the scripts to apply the patches within the Hercules remediation software. We didn’t have to go in until 11, but were there until almost 2:30 this morning. Thankfully, since we were there so late, they gave us today off. So I’ve been a complete bum all day–I left the apartment once, just long enough to check the mail. ;-)

Earlier this week I decided to sign up for Blockbuster Online – their answer to NetFlix, which I used to subscribe to pre-post-9/11 layoff. The only reason I opted for their service instead of going back to NetFlix is b/c I had a free 1 month trial (I think NF only offers 2 weeks), and we’ll get a coupon each week for a regular in-store rental.

Man, this post is taking FOREVER. I’m in the middle of setting XP Professional up on Keith’s computer (he’s been running Windows 2000 for ages).

Anyway, I think that’s it for now. Our camera died and Keith didn’t have extra batteries, and I haven’t gotten any pics from anybody else yet. Although I do have these proofs from the professional photographer. The only one I don’t hate is the one where I’m receiving my certificate. I look incredibly stupid in the first one, and am covering up my medal in the 3rd one. :(

Congratulations, Brian!!!! I know this was a long time coming, so you should be very proud of your accomplishments.

I see that the new job seems to be going well, so looks like life is pretty good for you right now. You deserve it, that’s for sure!

always,
