I am alive!
Just way behind…. Lots of stuff going on right now!
Schatze
Monday night I got a call from Dad… My miniature weenie dog when I still lived with my parents was named Schatze (German for “sweetheart”). Unfortunately she had to be put to sleep Sunday night. She was 14 years old, and in very poor health–she had been blind and mostly deaf for several years, and she wasn’t eating any more, and had to be carried outside to potty 4 or 5 times a night. She had a seizure and lost control of all her body functions. I will miss her very much–there will never be another like her. (this picture was taken 5 years ago)
Fireworks
We went out on Beltline around 6 Monday night for dinner at our favorite Thai restaurant, Thai Orchid. Then went down to Marble Slab for dessert (we’re dieting, can you tell?). Ended up sitting out there waiting for the fireworks (Kaboomtown).
The fireworks were scheduled to start at 9:35. Around 8:45ish it started to storm pretty bad… We moved out of the rain and waited, but it only got worse, so we ran back to the car, getting drenched along the way. We were about 2 minutes from home and they announced on 100.3 (the radio station the fireworks were to be synchronized with) that the show was about to start!
So we turned around and parked in the parking lot by 24 Hour Fitness and watched from there. By this time the rain had nearly stopped.
But about halfway through the show, when it HAD completely stopped raining, they firworks stopped. No explanation was given over the radio–the music kept going as if the show was supposed to.
We gave up and came home, turned on the news, and they were claiming that they had stopped the show b/c severe weather was moving in. Yet the weather guy (this was on FOX, not sure why or how it ended up there since we don’t usually watch that station) said even he didn’t understand why, b/c there was no severe weather on the radar, and the worst had passed before the show had even started.
4th of July
We went out to Sneaky Pete’s on Tuesday to hang out and watch Ya!Ya. Brian & Jeff went with us, and we had a great time! We’d never been before so weren’t sure exactly what to expect. They have a pool, beach, volleball, jet skis, just all kinds of stuff going on. I definitely want to go back and get in the pool, play on the beach, etc!
Mama Mia!Tuesday night Keith, Missi, Jami, & I went to see Mama Mia! at Fair Park. When it first started I was afraid it was going to be so dumb… But it ended up being really good! Nothing deep or anything, just light-hearted no brainer fun. :) I think the girls and I appreciated it more than Keith, since we knew most of the Abba songs, but Keith enjoyed it too. I was so impressed they were able to weave all those songs together to make the plot! Overall a great time, we really enjoyed it! (Thanks again Joe!)
Bummed
Despite all the fun things I got to do this week, I was (and still am) really bummed about Schatze. Plus I didn’t feel very well. I ended up having a few beers at Sneaky Pete’s, and I’m supposed to limit my alcohol consumption with the Methotrexate–so that may have been part of it too. Plus I’m suffering from my mid-semester crisis, right on schedule about halfway through the semester. I hate this class and am so tired of it… And I’m scared to death about the fact I’ve only got 29 days ’till graduation and STILL don’t have a job lined up. Anyway. I had one of those stay home and close the blinds, don’t answer the phone days yesterday. I mostly just read, slept, and watched TV. Feeling better now…
I have a Physics homework assignment due Saturday night, the next one due Wednesday, and Monday after class our next take-home exam will be posted, due Wednesday at the beginning of class. I hate this class. I despise it. I LOATHE it. Oh here’s another good one: I ABHOR it. lol get it? Yeah…. I’m refraining from all the expletives that I’d like to use here. ;-) Oh well–29 days….
1984
BTW, since I finished Eldest I was going to read The Hobbit, but just wasn’t ready to leave the characters in Eragon behind yet – so I picked up 1984 again. It’s been a few years since I read it, and I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately (hm, I wonder why?)…
Fin
I guess that’s about it for now. I need to spend some time job-hunting online, then look at some of that
