Car, Resume, School
Today was the first day of summer classes. Yay. I’m so thrilled to be back in Physics again. Oddly enough, the professor didn’t seem as bad as I remembered him being… Probably because I’ve been exposed to the material he was covering today at least once before (I tried taking it last summer at Richland, while also taking two computer science classes at UTD and working at Mary Kay), and because I’ve had many other professors since my last attempt at physics with him that spoke with thick accents. I truly believe it’s a requirement to have an accent in order to teach a physics class!!
Class got out at noon, and I was supposed to be at work at 1. I needed to go by Walgreens to pick up a prescription anyway, and Wal-Mart was on the way so I stopped to get a few groceries. I have to go right by my apartment on my way to work so I figured I’d save myself the trip after I got off work today.
When I started to leave WM I got into my car and took off… but when I tried to shift to second gear–I couldn’t! It was stuck! The clutch still worked, I could push it in and it would coast, but the stick just flopped (literally) back and forth between the 1st and 2nd gear positions. So at top speed of 15mph I limped home and had AAA to two it to a shop in Plano that I’ve dealt with before and was pleased with their work (and the fact they didn’t gouge me).
No word on the car yet…. but I just know it’s going to be really expensive. If it’s too much, I may have to try to borrow some money and just buy a new used car. My Saturn is a ’95 and it’s creeping up on 200,000 miles – she’s definitely seen better days. So if you know of anybody with a CHEAP, reliable car for sale (a/c is a must! otherwise I’ll consider just about anything, within reason) please let me know!
I’ve finally gotten around to posting my resume on my UTD website. Feel free to forward it or link back to it if you have any leads for me. I would really appreciate it!!!
