If you run into a problem again - try this - When you're signed into blogger, go to template & scroll down just a bit.. you'll see it says "Blogger Template Style" then body, "Page Structure", #content, #main. width:485px; (you can change the width say to 300 (or whatever -play around with it in preview & see how you like it).
